Growing for the Community

This fall at The Hiland Hall Gardens, along with tasting lots of new recipes, students focused on creating gifts for our community with the bounty from our amazing herb garden! We created aromatherapy wreaths, using lavender, sage and grapevines grown in our garden, to be given to families working with PAVE (Projects Against Violent Encounters).  Students also created herbal sachets, with lemon balm, lavender, bee balm, and sage, to brighten the lives of residents of The Vermont Veteran’s Home. Finally, the catnip grown in our garden was transformed by students into adorable cat toys to be donated to Second Chance Animal Shelter. We are so proud of the students for their work ethic, creativity, and compassion for our community!
